Fail!

I learned a lesson this week, and that lesson was:-
Check the colour fastness of your threads before you squeeze a cold tea bag over your finished piece to age it.
Feel my pain!

On a brighter note, I found these teeny tiny daffodils in a hidden corner of the garden. To give you an idea of scale, my funky little mid-century jug is about 6 inches tall.

    The reason why I only use DMC although I love all kinds of beautiful threads I see around on the internet. Always ask the seller about colour fast and if you have a kit with included threads and it doesn't say don't trust to wash it afetr stitching!AriadnefromGreece!

    It was clearly to achieve a distressed look, just not saying where! It does still look lovely though. Daff's seem to be springing up everywhere now. Pretty vase they're in.

    Agree with Kerry, poor Santa does look quite distressed!

    I always do the messing around with the fabric before stitching on it. Red is so bad, even for bleeding onto white without any liquid being added!

    Isn't that a horrible feeling when that happens! Could you go for a red tea stain for the rest of the piece?

    Oh no....even red DMC bleeds a bit especially if you have to do any frogging. It's still a cute finish :)

    Ignoring the accident with the red thread, the tea stain was producing a good ageing effect.

    Sometimes failing is ok. Good that it was not a large piece. I always check the color fastness of thread because I mostly stitch on white. I liked your cute jug:)

    Oh dear , I could hear the air turning blue (not red)from here Christine. Hope it goes better if you try it again. Spring is on its way daffodils are almost finished here. Yours look so delicate.
