This month I've got two things to show. The first is something I made as a birthday present for my sister. (I made one each for me and the girls as well)
I scanned in one of the precious handwritten recipes I have from my Mum (complete with little smudge where it got wet and the ink ran), added a border, uploaded it to Spoonflower, and had it printed onto linen cotton canvas, then hemmed it up to make these tea towels.
The other gift is something I made for Eloise. I thought she could put it on her desk at work. I've seen a lot of designs quite like it around the interwebs but none of them were quite what I wanted so I ended up making my own version up. I finished it as a free-standing paperweight.
There is a tiny zip lock bag of yellow split peas inside to give it some weight, so if she gets really hungry at work it can always double as a convenient soup making resource.
You are so creative Christine. The teatowels are a fabulous was to preserve a memory. What was the recipe? The sarcasm stitch is really cool. I could do with that on my desk! Nobody ever gets a straight answer from me!
ReplyDeleteI love the teatowels. So unique!
ReplyDeleteThe tea towels are such a special project, I bet the family were thrilled and quiet emotional when they opened those.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gifts, the tea towels are a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderfully creative gift ideas! I love the tea towels and imagine they are far too precious to dry dishes with.
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in GG this month. Two great projects! The recipe teatowel is a really good idea. My cousins made their Mum a memory quilt using a similar method last year.
ReplyDeleteLove the sarcasm quote too, quite appropriate here. If you find one on pedantry please let me know as we have a lot of that too.
What a fantastic idea the tea towel is, but I bet it never dries a single dish. Love sarcasm - I know many desks that could sit on.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Both your gifts are very creative :) Love the sarcasm quote.
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative, Christine!! Always love coming here and seeing your latest projects. The recipe tea towel is so innovative and fun--they turned out great and I'm sure they are treasured gifts :)
