Spring continues apace. My orchid flowering daffodils have opened and the blackthorn hedge is in flower.
Yesterday was opening day in the Needlecraft Haven Spring Exchange. Here is the beautiful pillow I received from Gillie. It is a Brightneedle design. Thank you Gillie, I just love it.
Here are the needlebook and ornament I made for Rachael. The ornament is a complimentary design from Sub Rosa here, stitched on hand dyed linen in Vireo from Sparklies using GAST in Poppy, Avocado and Maple Syrup, and finished with some hairy string for a rustic look ("Are you a rustic hanger?" "No, I'm a frayed knot")
I used my rinky-dinky Cuttlebug to die-cut the felt pieces for the needlebook.
I've also stitched up a few of these fun little applique chick ornaments using a design from Shiny Happy World.
A little sad news as well, we came home yesterday to find our cat, Spike, had died while we were out. He was only 11 and hadn't been ill at all, so we wonder if he had managed to get into something poisonous in someone's shed. RIP Spike, we'll miss you.
poor spike but im sure he had 11 wonderful years.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for you and Spike - he lookslovely and was obviously at home for his 11 years.
ReplyDeleteGreat gifts - thanks for joining in the exchange
Oh what a shock to come home to that!!!! I'm so sorry for your loss!
ReplyDeleteYou received a lovely pillow in exchange. You are soooo crafty!
I'm so sorry about poor Spike. What a shame.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, love your exchange gifts, both to and from, and your easter thingies. Also: I'm a frayed knot....bwah ha ha!
I'm very sorry Spike has left you, remember the fun time, cat's often mask their illness, and I agree 11 years is not long, when my 12 year old cat died I felt robbed of years with her.
ReplyDeleteOh no, what sad news. I'm so sorry about your cat. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteLook at all these spring projects! What fun!
ohhhh no (((HUGS))) to you all ... poor wee thing .. but like Marlene says they often mask that they are ill ....
ReplyDeletelovely exchanges both given and received and cute spring projects too :)
love mouse xxxx
Oh I am sorry to hear about Spike (hugs)
ReplyDeleteThank you for my exchange I love them both!!
Poor Spike, I am so sorry!
ReplyDeleteMuch nicer photograph, so yes please, will pinch!
Lovely stitched bits, and the chick are sweet!
Oh, Christine, I'm so sorry about Spike. It's awful when that happens. He looks like he was a red head? I had one of those, I called him Clem - after Red Skelton's character, Clem Kadiddlehopper.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Spike Christine. He always reminded me of the Buffy & Angel era......
ReplyDeleteChristine what a gorgeous cat he was,I have always wanted a gingery cat .You will miss him.
ReplyDeleteLoved the exchange pieces and the comment about a frayed knot. We used to have one hanging in the florists which we used to swipe when we were asked for silly things.
So sorry about Spike {{{hugs}}}
ReplyDeleteLove both the exchange pieces.
I think Spring has gone and winter has returned. It's freezing here and extremely windy and rainy. Still we need the rain.
Spike was a very handsome boy, my thoughts are with you all, what a shock it must have been ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteI love those little chicks, they do make me smile.
Have a lovely Easter xx
Poor Spike, so very sad for you. It has been a little hard for me to keep up with everything so I stopped monitoring the blogs until today. I am so sorry; you can always think of Spike when the daffodils bloom. Lovely projects too.
ReplyDeleteLovely Exchanges !!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter ;)
Sorry to hear about Spike. When I was pg with the Large Boy my Mum suggested Spike or Giles for his name! He's sort of got a Buffyverse name but neither of those.
ReplyDeleteI love your exchange pieces but groaned at the joke!
